AN EXCEPTIONAL OPPORTUNITY! Discovery ~ Conservation ~ Wildlife ~ Privacy ~ Accessibility ~ Diversity ~ Value ~ Harmony - Ross Range Farm is a 454 acre farm bordered by two creeks - Phillips Creek to the East and the Little Choptank River to the South. The property includes over 190 acres of agricultural lands, over 190 acres of woodlands, four miles of shoreline with no erosion and miles of walking trails. Ross Range Farm offers a best-in-class sporting and outdoor experience, a unique location; and has conservation importance and authenticity. The property includes three houses, plus several barns, outbuildings, boat docks, and a pier for canoe launches. Farm fields and meadows make up about 40 percent of the land; forests of loblolly pine, holly, willow oak, and sweet gum account for another 40 percent. The balance is ponds and wetlands. Wildlife, it seems, finds this enticing. A recent survey identified many kinds of resident animals, ranging from wild turkeys and great blue herons to deer and foxes as well as turtles and salamanders. Every spring and fall the farm, which lies directly along the Atlantic Flyway, becomes a green stopover magnet for migrating birds, including ducks, hawks, and warblers.

HERON

HERON
THROUGH EAGLES' EYES - Land is timeless and scarce, and its value is governed by the higher principles of supply and demand. Supply is dwindling and the number of people that recognize this are rising. Land takes us back to a simpler time and to a more perfect place. It grounds us so that we may, at least momentarily, extricate ourselves from a world wound too tightly. So many share stories of returning home to enjoy a glass of wine and to sit quietly and enjoy their bounty. It is land as therapy, a concept more important than ever before. I think we should all feel good about owning land that required exceptional ability honed by effort and perseverance. It reminds us of the value of a good work ethic and discipline - a message our children need to understand.

Sika Deer - Sika deer differ in looks from native white-tailed deer as they are much shorter in stature. Their coat tends to be reddish brown during summer months, and dark brown to black in color during winter. Even as adults they have white spots, mainly running parallel down their back. Stags generally have a dark, shaggy mane running down their neck, and their antlers are narrow and sweep backwards rather than forwards like the white-tail's antlers.

ACCESSIBILITY

ACCESSIBILITY
A Sporting Property - Ross Range Farm can be a regulated shooting area (RSA), managed to encourage the widest possible variety of game native to the region. The natural wetlands, forest and farmland habitats are intensively cultivated to produce a variety of food and cover plants to meet nutritional and habitat needs of the resident migrant waterfowl population. Expect Mallard, Pintail, Wood Duck, Teal and Canadian Geese. In addition there can be an upland game hunting operation with Dove, Pheasant, Quail, Hungarian Partridge and Turkey. The farm supports White Tail and Sitka deer populations. You’d be hard pressed to find a better location for hunting and sporting activities.

THE CLEANEST LINE - IT'S THE ARC OF A WAKING DRY AS IT SKATES ACROSS BRACKISH GREEN WATER. THE PRECISE MEND THAT SLIDES A #22 ROSS RANGE ON A DRAG-FREE DRIFT INTO THE LANE. THE ARROW-SHAPED LOOP OF A GOOD CAST DRIVING THE FLY UPWIND INTO THE PATH OF A TAILING STRIPER. THE CLEANEST LINE. "THE CLEANEST LINE IS HOW WE ASPIRE TO MARK OUR PASSAGE AND PRESENCE ON THE WATERS THAT HOLD OUR DREAMS." THE CLEANEST LINE IS ALSO A WAY OF DOING BUSINESS AND, BEYOND THAT, HOW WE SEE OUR PLACE IN THE WORLD. IT MEANS LEAVING AS LIGHT A FOOTPRINT AS POSSIBLE, AND DOING WHAT'S RIGHT SIMPLY BECAUSE, WELL, IT'S RIGHT. THE CLEANEST LINE, THEN IS MANY THINGS. BUT MOST OF ALL, IT'S HOW WE LIKE TO EXPERIENCE OUR TIME ON THE WATER - WAIST DEEP. TREADING LIGHTLY AND LOOKING TO THE HORIZON.
